100+ Delicious New Zealand Made Food Products To Try

Aotearoa New Zealand is abundant with food, growers, makers, farmers, and creators. But thinking about where the food was made seems to be further down the list of priorities when people do their grocery shopping.

Supporting food manufacturers in New Zealand has always been a focus of mine, but this year I challenged myself to going all in: A year of only buying New Zealand made food, preferably New Zealand grown too.

You can read all about the struggles and successes here, but one of the biggest time wasters and challenges was actually finding locally made food so I had variety. I knew the options were out there, but small producers are often drowned out by the ‘big dogs’ when it comes to marketing and brand awareness. I hope to change this.

With the help of thousands of people in my Instagram community, I’ve curated a list of over 100 New Zealand food brands. Some I’ve tried and tasted myself, others come highly recommended by locals around the country. My hope is that you’ll use this guide to make your grocery shopping decisions: you don’t need to switch to 100% New Zealand made, but start with one item swap and see what happens!

Note: Every brand included was chosen because their products are made in Aotearoa New Zealand. Not all ingredients in their products are NZ grown, but where possible we have tried to include NZ grown companies too and hero businesses who focus on reducing their waste. A brand’s inclusion in this list does not guarantee they have sustainability values or waste initiatives; they are simply made in NZ.

Brands with main features are the key sponsors of this blog post: without them, this huge piece of work couldn’t have happened. Thanks also to my researcher Stef and editor Emma for their help with this!
