Why Can You Trust These Brands?
Ever wondered how these companies make it into the Shop Good Brands Directory?
Before I list any brands in the directory,
I take the time to thoroughly audit them for transparency.
I carefully review their sustainability practices, ethics, and social responsibility initiatives. My researcher and I scrutinise each company and reach out for additional details when needed. My evaluation process is in place to maintain the integrity of the directory and provide you with trustworthy recommendations.
So, what do I usually ask? …
Where are all your products/materials sourced from and how are they produced?
E.g. countries, certifications, including swing tags, packaging etc.
What is the NZ shipping cost
& where in the world do you ship?
All brands included in my directory are available in New Zealand.
Aside from the people who make your products, tell me about your team culture and how your head office/staff are treated.
E.g. Living wages, bonuses, staff wellbeing.
Where do your products end up at the end of their life?
How can they be kept in the resource loop?
Who makes your products?
Please send us specific information about your supply chain.
What do you do with
returns/samples/unsellable items?
E.g. Sell them at a discounted price or give to staff. (we ask this as returns are often a large waste stream for big businesses)
How are your products shipped to customers?
E.g. packaging type and carbon neutral shipping.
How do you ensure
the people who make your products are paid a fair wage?
E.g. Are you Living Wage certified?
How do you foster diversity and equity in your business?
practical examples please. e.g. diversity of models/staff etc.
If a brand makes it through the auditing process, they're charged an annual fee to be listed (like all Directory platforms). This means the Directory is free for you (the customer) to use, our costs are covered, and a researcher can be involved in making sure the quality of the Directory is high.
