Biddy + May: Clean Beauty Product Heaven

Isn’t it crazy how we care so much about the ‘organic’ label of foods we put into our bodies, but have no concern or thought for the products we put on our skin?

It appears we’re simply happy to use whatever the Kardashians are lathering on, and blissfully turn a blind eye to the ingredients list which, in reality, involves a whole paragraph of gibberish. Oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate… huh, what?

Yasmin, founder of Biddy + May, thinks it’s crazy too.

Yasmin has curated a platform where you can easily find a complete range of clean beauty products to trust. She’s scouted the world, met with incredible clean beauty brand owners, and gathered the best of the best into an impressive online shop.

The site is extensive, ranging from cleansers, toners, and oils, all the way to deodorants, makeup, lashes, and sunscreens. Each product listing involves a detailed description of the specific product, what it can do, and an ingredients list that also specifies which ingredients are organic.

This transparency, matched with the amount of work I know Yasmin puts into sussing out a brand before she includes them, is why Biddy + May are up there on my list of favourite online beauty stores.

The three Biddy + May products I own, have completely upped my morning and evening routines.

Here’s a wee glimpse into how I use them and how they’ve changed my skin and wellbeing for the better:

Kahina Giving Beauty Argan Oil

Just over a week after I started using this oil on my skin every second night, I had a new instagram follower send me a message, asking me for my skin care product recommendations because my skin was so amazing! My husband had commented on it the day beforehand too. For someone who’s struggled with acne for the past year after going off the contraceptive pill, this message meant a heck of a lot.

I use this argan oil at night, around 3-4 times a week. I have normal to combination skin, never oily or dry, but sporadically one or the other, depending on a multitude of things (diet, weather, hormones, stress). This oil has been the perfect balance to keeping my skin just right, and it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky like many do. PLUS you can use the same oil to rub in the tips of your hair if you have dry ends.

Made By Yoke Sandalwood/Rose Herbal Bath & Body Oil

Talk about luxury! This is a wee treat for the skin that I would have usually considered excessive, but now, I don’t think I would go without it.

I rub this body oil on my décolletage and hips, most evenings. The smell helps me relax, and the oil means my skin doesn’t become dry in the sun- it is a hot summer after all. As well as softening my skin, the oil makes me feel all ready for bed before I snuggle into the sheets.

Innersence Organic Beauty Create Lift Volumizing Foam

I have a habit of complimenting people on their hair, when it’s not their hair washing day, hah! Turns out, I love the beachy, wavy, natural look, and want my hair to consistently look like I’ve just been paddling in the waves.

I get frustrated in winter when my hair drops and my salty ginger waves escape me, but now I’ve found the product to get me through- first world problems, right?

After I’ve had a shower, I scrunch just a few pumps of this volumizing foam into my hair, and it honestly works a treat. I have resisted using it in summer to save it up for winter, but on the days I’ve needed extra ‘hair game’, I’ve been super impressed at the obvious difference. My hair still feels clean (I hate the feeling of thick products in my hair), but it keeps it’s natural waves for as long as I need.

If you’re looking to up your beauty game too, and, like me, frustrated at going into a mainstream shop and finding a gibberish looking ingredients list…

As a rule, I only work with brands I love, use, and can whole heartedly back. This is a sponsored blog (I can't pay my electricity bill with free products), but 100% my own words, photos, and opinion.
